Donattino Turrón de Doña Pepa (Peruvian Nougat with Fruit Syrup) - 500g
Turrón de Doña Pepa is Peru's most famous sweet, and every October — the Mes Morado, during the Señor de los Milagros processions — Peruvian families make sure there's one on the table. Donattino's version has layers of anise-scented shortbread soaked in a thick syrup made from real fruit, topped with colorful candy sprinkles.
My Peruvian customers buy it for October, for the holidays, and for anyone who misses a real turrón from home. It's also a more affordable option next to our San Jose turrón.
